Running our own media, in-country

September 9, 2026

Real-time video is unforgiving: a few hundred milliseconds of extra latency and a conversation stops feeling natural. So we run our own media path — the signalling server and the relay that carry your call — rather than handing it to a third party we cannot tune.

Owning that path lets us put it where our users are. For people in Russia, account and meeting data live on in-country infrastructure, which keeps calls fast and meets local data-localization requirements. It is a technical decision and a compliance one at the same time.

It is more to operate — we watch it continuously and publish live health at status.ezmeet.xyz — but it is the part of the product we are least willing to outsource. The call is the product; the infrastructure under it is ours.
